The 10 Best Faraday Bags For Laptops

This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Stories about data breaches and hacks have become so common that they rarely make headlines anymore, but they show a couple of things clearly: criminals are determined to steal data and they're very creative about getting it. A Faraday bag won't make you invincible, but it does provide a layer of protection for laptops and other devices, and even for credit cards and passports. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

February 11, 2021:

It was a straightforward round of updates, as all of our existing choices continued to be excellent selections for the category. We did, however, supplement our existing inclusions with two new additions of very different sizes.

Our first new pick, the SiForce Signal Blocking Bag — is a bare-bones sleeve that is big enough to accommodate a laptop, but not much else. It certainly isn’t the most flashy or impressive model in the category, but we thought it was worth including in the interest of users looking for an affordable option that can fit inside their briefcase or messenger bag.

Our second pick was the Mission Darkness MDFB-DS40L — a 40-liter, dry-bag backpack that’s sure to be too big for many users (especially considering its similarly sized price tag), but we thought was worth including in the interest of users who, in addition to cybersecurity, have an interested invested in the great outdoors, or just plain like the sleek look of this tactical pack.

Because the MFDB-DS40L doesn’t seem to have any sort of serviceable laptop sleeve – which one could argue is an obvious prerequisite for this category – it’s possible that it would’ve been a better fit for our list of faraday backpacks. But after some consideration, given that this isn’t the most expansive category, and that its title is Best Faraday Bags for Laptops, and not Best Faraday Sleeves for Laptops, we still thought it was worth including as a complement to the Silent Pocket Backpack, in order to offer our users a broader view of the available options.

If even the smallest selections on this list are on the big side for your purposes, and you’re just looking to protect something small like a mobile device, then you might also be interested in our list of Best Faraday Bags for Phones.

February 01, 2019:

This field seems to be dominated by three brands: Mission Darkness, Blackout, and Silent Pocket, and our selections reflect their dominance in the market. However, we were pleased to find a model from Faraday Defense for a very reasonable price, and placed it high on our list. We also like the Disklabs option, but it is intended only for notebook-style laptops.
