This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in March of 2018. If you've ever been in a gift shop, you will have come across a little glass dome filled with water, glitter, and some sort of tiny figurine. But you can make these decorations yourself with one of these fun snow globe kits. The options on our list range from unique frames for photos to fun crafts projects for kids of all ages. Some have small pieces, though, so be sure to supervise young kids. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
May 21, 2020:
While a snow globe kit can offer a fun way to spend an afternoon with your kids, be sure to check all requirements and directions before you start. You'll probably need to supervise, especially if you have young kids in the home, as many kits contain small pieces that can be harmful if swallowed; there might also be steps best performed by an adult, whether that's using a heat source or adding the liquid. Because most kits require that you add only water, you shouldn't have to worry about toxic chemicals, though. If you decide to buy a pre-filled globe, keep in mind that some contain ethylene glycol, which is toxic if swallowed. Keep these out of reach of kids and pets.
For older children, or even adults, we still think the MindWare Glitter or the Creativity for Kids Holiday are strong choices. You'll find that the clay they arrive with is on the hard side, rather than being pliable, like that you'd find in a Play Doh set. For this reason, you'll need some skill and hand strength, but the results can be truly artistic, so it's worth it for many. Or, if you want a blank canvas to work with, there's the Creative Hobbies DIY. This plain globe doesn't come with any accessories, so you'll need to think creatively.
As for younger kids, the Glitzi Globes Frozen Pack or the Glitzi Globes Ferris Wheel should work. The latter is not without its flaws, however. Although colorful and fun, it arrives with four small globes, and the wheel requires five to be complete. If your kids are the type who demand that the toy looks exactly like the photo on the box, you might be in for some disappointment — or you may end up shelling out for another set.

Things Remembered Gold Snowman in Nature The Things Remembered Gold Snowman in Nature isn't a kit per se, but when it comes to a personalized option, it's tough to top.
