Editor's Notes

June 01, 2020:

Whether they're a tiny tot or a grade school child, anyone who enjoys the iconic Minnie Mouse is sure to be entertained by a colorful toy bearing the character’s likeness. Today we rounded out our list by adding in an arts and crafts set, the Melissa & Doug Wooden Set, which comes with nine stamps featuring Minnie and her friends, as well as two stamp pads and five colored pencils. Everything fits nicely in the container’s compartments, which makes for easy cleanup and storage. In this update, we also replaced the Cash Register toy with another model suitable for children of all ages, the Happy Helpers Cash Register. It comes with everything you need to complete eight themed missions, such as instruction cards, play money, and merchandise. The cash register features a calculator and a scanner that really work, as well as a receipt dispenser with stickers and a voice-amplifying microphone, just like those in real grocery stores. It also makes all sorts of realistic cash register sounds. For little book lovers, we added the Disney Minnie Sound Book. When you touch each of the 10 buttons, it reads aloud the corresponding sections, so kids can learn to associate printed words with spoken ones. It features a fun, mysterious plot, is good for those aged three and up, and the buttons made for fine motor skill development.

In today’s update, we also replaced the Happy Helper bike with the more readily available Kiddieland My First Ride On. It’s a good introduction to independent bike riding, and allows tots to either slide along while sitting, or walk behind it with the aid of its rear handle. It can even help them learn to tell time, since it features a pretend analog clock on the front with movable hands. For a fun play set, look to the Vtech Ice Cream Parlor, which comes with Minnie herself inside of an ice cream delivery truck that can be sent down the ramp and triggers three sets of fun sounds as it does so. Kids will have fun sorting the shapes and inserting them into the corresponding compartments. We also added in the Walk & Play Puppy, which comes with two dolls. Minnie holds a leash and interacts with her cute dog, Snowpuff. Kids can use the talking doll to pretend train the dog to bark, spin, and dance. When you connect the two figures together with the leash, they’ll walk on their own together. Since a toy selection wouldn’t likely be complete without a bathtub toy, we added in the The First Years Baby Bathtime, which features three squeezable figures that squirt water. In addition to Minnie, it’s also available in versions modeled after Disney movies “The Little Mermaid,” “Finding Nemo,” and “Toy Story.” Be sure to ensure a safe playtime by always supervising children and their toys, and sticking to the manufacturer's stated age requirements.
