The 9 Best Hybrid Table Saws
This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in January of 2020. When it comes to table saws, size does matter, and choosing the right one can be a tricky process. These hybrid models are more powerful than the smaller, portable, benchtop types and offer a greater level of accuracy. Yet they are also more versatile than the much heavier, fixed, cabinet models, as they often feature integrated casters that allow them to be moved around the workshop. Editor's Notes
May 07, 2021:
Used predominantly by professionals to cut smooth straight lines on sheet materials, or for making crosscuts on thick stock, these hybrid table saws are large powerful woodworking machines and are designed to combine the stability and accuracy needed in fine furniture production with being more compact and affordable than an all-out cabinet saw.
In this update, we replaced several options from the ranking, either due to availability concerns or because the manufacturer has released a new and improved model. We switched the Shop Fox W1837 for the Shop Fox W1888, which now has a preformed steel cabinet and a fully enclosed blade guard with its own separate dust port, offering improved stability and enhanced safety. The popular Jet Proshop 708494K was also replaced with a new model, the Jet ProShop II. It still has all the safety features as its predecessor, however, this new design features an improved dust shroud and a quick-release arbor lock for simplified blade changes. The Delta 36-5052T2 now has a more powerful motor, and comes equipped with a Biesemeyer style fence system that allows for precision cuts, while the upgraded rail has a special design, allowing it to cut small pieces of stock.
We also decided to include a couple of options more suited to hobbyists and home DIY projects. The Kseibi KTS 20-254 is both lightweight and portable and includes a detachable stand with anti-tilt support arms. The Tacklife Extension Saw, although another budget-friendly option, incorporates many of the safety features often found on premium models, and features an aluminum extending worktop that can adjust from 25 to 36 inches in width.

Hybrid table saws are quickly becoming the saw of choice for many. They are more robust than regular contractor or benchtop types, yet offer the stability and precision of a cabinet model, at a much cheaper price. There are several factors you will need to consider when choosing the best one for you.
First and foremost, electric saws are inherently dangerous, therefore we recommend they only be used by trained professionals, along with adequate safety wear, such as eye protection and work gloves. For true peace of mind, the SawStop CNS175 uses their patented safety system, which can stop the saw blade within five milliseconds of coming in to contact with any part of the body. Other notable models with good safety features are the Laguna Tools Fusion, which utilizes a zero-clearance throat plate to stop dust clogging the blade and has a thermal cut-off switch, or the Jet Proshop 708494K, which has a transparent blade guard for improved observation, and a quick-release riving knife to help prevent kickbacks.
If you need to move the saw on a regular basis, then you will likely prefer a model with an integrated caster system, such as the Ridgid R4512, Shop Fox W1837 or the Delta 36-5152 which all feature a single-action foot pedal. Other models are mobile but will need to be moved using a separately purchased base.
The final thing to consider is the material you will be cutting. If the primary use will be for sheet wood, such as ply or MDF, then the Grizzly Industrial G0691, Powermatic 1791230K and the Delta 36-5152 all have large cast iron worktops and extension wings. However, if you plan to work with hardwoods or very thick lumber then your priority should be motor size and cutting depth, therefore, the 3-horsepower Grizzly Industrial G0691 and the Woodtek 159356 would be the most suitable options.
