The 10 Best Wax Irons
This wiki has been updated 27 times since it was first published in December of 2016. Proper maintenance of skis and snowboards is important both to protect your gear and to optimize its performance. With one of these specially-designed irons, the process of applying wax is easy and efficient, and owning your own will pay for itself the second or third time you avoid shelling out cash for a chalet ski bum to service your equipment. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
January 07, 2020:
I’ve decided to add a couple of kits like the Winterial Tuning Kit and Demon Hyper Kit for the convenience they offer over having to source multiple cleaning/tuning tools (wax, base, a P-tex, scrapers, etc) separately. The wax on these kits won’t last forever and may not be the kind of wax you eventually settle on after experimentation (some people suggesting using a blend of all-temperature and specific-temperature wax based on the riding conditions), but this at least gets you started, seeing as one of the primary deterrents to tuning your own board (or skis) is the stress of shopping around for all the tools. Especially if you’ve never tuned your board before, you’ve at least got a set of wax-removal tools and an effective iron, and you can shop around for waxes later.
I’ve also added the XCMAN Digital, which is a little expensive, but well worth the price. I particularly like its digital temperature readout, and it tends to heat more evenly than similar models too. The mat is a nice addition, but not essential.

Added the Demon Mini iron as an option for those who may not need to purchase Demon's entire kit. Also added the RaceWax Complete as another useful full-kit option, as well as the Star Digital as a pro-level choice.
