The 10 Best Waterproof Hiking Shoes For Men
This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in December of 2018. When the great outdoors beckons, it's best to be well prepared for whatever nature throws at you. While puddles, flooded grasslands and muddy trails are an annoyance that one would prefer to avoid, heavy rain, sleet, or snow can turn a casual trek into a potentially dangerous one. Luckily, all of the options on our list are designed to handle such conditions and keep your feet dry all the while. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
January 01, 2019:
For the most part, the outdoors community has coalesced around certain shoes as being the standard go-to options for hikers, i.e. the Merrell Moab 2. Whereas our research showed that this was usually with good reason, we found a few pairs that surprised us, particularly our #1 pick, the Adidas Terrex Swift. Intuitively, one might expect the shoe with the best waterproofing to be the natural pick; however, a few models that were prone to a little water-leakage beat out others that did a better job of keeping water out. This is because with the former subset, the shoes tended to dry quickly, meaning a hiker on a multi-day trek can expect them to dry overnight, whereas the latter, though better at keeping water out, will take much, much longer to dry if they do get wet.
