Editor's Notes
December 08, 2020:
A drain pan is a versatile item that is useful for catching accidental drips or spills from your washing machine, and will provide some level of protection against a leak that might develop due to overflow or hose failure. Not only that, but they can also be used around the home in any situation where there is a risk of damage to a floor, such as under water heaters, portable air conditioners, fridges that condensate, or even pet litter boxes.
In this most recent update to the list, we removed the underperforming General Electric PM7X1, as it is a plastic option that has no added benefits when compared to the Mustee 98-M Durapan, which has an aluminum removable front panel, or the Whirlpool 8212526 and the Eastman 52525, which are also both made from durable plastics. Instead, we opted for the KMG Square, which is made from corrosion-resistant galvanized steel. This much more durable choice features a removable front panel with a watertight seal, allowing appliances to be easily slid into place, and comes at a reasonable price for a metal option. The DR Quality Parts Heavy and the Killarney Metals 32" x 30", by comparison, are much more expensive since they are made from stainless steel, which will definitely appeal to some for their aesthetic qualities.
We also removed the WirthCo 40092 Funnel King, because, although a durable option, it is only available as a 20 by 20-inch model, which is too small for most modern washing machines. Its replacement, the DiversiTech 6-2626L is a more useful 26-inches square, and features rolled edges and a ribbed bottom for rigidity and a 2-inch depth that provides plenty of room for drips or condensation.

Included both affordable plastic models and more expensive, commercial-grade metal ones. The WirthCo Funnel King, for example, is great for smaller units that may suffer only from the occasional minor leak. The Kilarney Metals 32" x 30", on the other hand, is an industrial-size option for larger machines and more serious leaks.
