The 6 Best Walk Makers
This wiki has been updated 26 times since it was first published in March of 2017. A beautiful stone walkway can enhance your home's exterior, but having one professionally installed can cost thousands of dollars. To save money, a path maker can give you the same results at a fraction of the price, even if you don't have any experience. Simply mix some concrete, pour it into one of these decorative molds, remove the mold before the concrete dries fully and voila! When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
August 27, 2019:
As long as you choose a mold that can stand up to dozens or (depending on the size of your project) even hundreds of uses, there isn't a lot of variety when comparing one walk maker to another except when it comes to shape. So our selections for the list are a range of geometric shapes and some that look random, but all have a reliable record of not cracking or breaking in the middle of a project.
Besides the attractive designs they create, one small feature that we liked about the Quikrete Country Stone and the CJGQ Square is the subtle tabs on the edges that make pulling the mold out of the concrete without disturbing the shape a little easier.
None of the choices are very expensive, especially in relation to professionally installed walkways or patios. So if you're planning a long path or a full-sized patio, it might save you some pain to buy a couple molds so a partner can help. And while it's not necessary, investing in a small concrete mixer could potentially take hours or even days off of a large project without breaking the bank.
