Editor's Notes
August 25, 2020:
Fountains have been around for centuries, historically used to display opulence and engineering prowess, like in the case of the Roman aqueducts. Now you can have one of these fixtures in your home or out in your garden to add a decorative, and even aural touch, to your landscape and outdoor experience. With some added lights and a hummingbird feeder you'll be able to transform your garden into your own little slice of paradise.
One thing to note is that you may need to top off your fountain about once a week, while some will require more water every few days. This is due to water evaporation or splashing, but it's rather easy to keep an eye out and fill as necessary. You'll also want to clean your fixture every once in a while with vinegar, or something similar, to break down calcium buildup and keep everything in working order.
There are mainly two things you want to consider when choosing one of these fountains for your home, the first being the overall look and design of the piece, and the second being its size. If you're after something that is on the smaller side, check out the Jeco Glenville or the Bamboo Accents Zen. The latter can be fitted to a preexisting bowl and moved quite easily, and it can also be used indoors.
Those who like traditional looks will enjoy the Smart Solar Country Gardens and the Kenroy Home Classic. The former runs on solar power so you can easily place it anywhere you can fit it, and the latter resembles the old Spanish style fountains found in large community squares.
If a more modern design is something that piques your interest, then the Sunnydaze Stacked Slate, Sunnydaze Spiral Feature, and Bbabe Faux Stone are all worth checking out. They all have interesting contemporary designs and the Bbabe is available with a sphere on top instead of a typical reservoir.
