From weekend getaways and short business trips to long backpacking vacations and everything in between, every globetrotter knows that the right luggage is essential. We’ve rounded up travel bags for women that are durable, stylish, and complete with features that make them comfortable to carry. Many are spacious and attractive enough to do double-duty as your gym or work bag, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

May 14, 2020:

To accommodate all kinds of trips, we've kept plenty of travel bags that range from duffles to backpacks, but we've opted to remove both the Plambag Duffel and the CoolBell Convertible at this time. They both suffer from weak straps, and so are too frustrating in the long run. For those who are interested in a convertible choice, we've selected the Osprey Arcane. It doesn't have tons of straps and pockets on the outside, giving it a sleek profile that wouldn't necessarily be out of place in a business environment. We also like the Osprey Aura AG 65 for travelers hitting the road for long trips. A quintessential backpacking backpack, it makes toting your sleeping bag and gear comfortable thanks to an excellent suspension system, a padded hip belt, compression straps, and more.

If you'd prefer the classic look of a standard backpack, there's the Herschel Little America, perhaps the most iconic Herschel backpack out there. It has the signature striped liner that is sure to bring a little cheer every time you look inside, but it's a bit small at 25 liters, so it may not work for a full weekend getaway. The Kroser Daypack is a great choice, too, thanks to its wide-mouth opening, but when it's full, it can be a little hard to close. Both of these models are fairly comfortable for short trips; if you would prefer not to carry weight on your back, consider the Steve Madden Wheeled, instead. It is sized to fit under most airplane seats, and it has tons of organizational features, so you'll feel just as put together when you land as you did when you left.

REI Co-op Ruckpack 65 Even the longest of journeys is comfortable with the REI Co-op Ruckpack 65. It has a whole host of features that make backpacking and open-ended international travel a breeze, such as a removable mini daypack, zippered back panel cover, hidden daisy chain, sunglasses stash pocket, and much, much more. rei.com

Louis Vuitton Horizon Soft Duffle 55 Anywhere you go, you are bound to turn a few heads with the handsome Louis Vuitton Horizon Soft Duffle 55, a lightweight, two-wheeled model. It's just as expensive as you probably expect, but it's a classic piece that's perfectly usable thanks to a wide U-shaped opening and strong double zippers. It comes in colors both bright and neutral, too. us.louisvuitton.com

Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30 For the cost, it's tough to find a model that's much more durable than the Tom Bihn Aeronaut 30, which has a ballistic nylon exterior to take just about anything you can throw at it. The rest of the components are of the highest quality, and it can be carried as a backpack, duffle, or shoulder bag, if you purchase the available shoulder strap, too. tombihn.com
