The 10 Best Record Cabinets

This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in September of 2020. Nowadays, vinyl records are somewhat of a collectors' item, and as such, need to be stored correctly to prevent warping and damage to the sleeves. A good-quality cabinet should have enough room for LPs to be racked vertically, while some incorporate an adequately sized top for a turntable as well. Depending on the size of the collection, there are many to choose from in a range of styles. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

October 06, 2020:

If you're an individual who still enjoys listening to music on vinyl records, then you will appreciate their delicate nature and the importance of proper care and storage of your beloved collection. A good quality record cabinet is an item of furniture similar to a cupboard, with correctly sized compartments that allow LPs to be stored vertically. Choosing a suitable cabinet will depend on how many records you have, the design and materials used, and whether you want to incorporate your hi-fi equipment within the unit, too.

In this ranking, we selected a number of different designs that can either keep your record collection hidden away from prying eyes or sticky fingers, or proudly display and keep them within easy reach of your turntable. The Line Phono Turntable Station, the Victrola Wooden Stand, and the MyGift 2-Tier Lattice Stand all incorporate multiple shelves for combining your hi-fi equipment and your LPs in one unit. These are great as they take up minimal room and keep everything in the same area and ready for use. The Record-Happy Turntable Stand is similar in design and features a unique V-shape that allows records to be flipped for easy selection.

Those with a large collection will likely favor a more substantial item of furniture, such as the Selva 12 Cube Rack Stand, which features a 50 record capacity in each compartment. The Way Basics Extra Large Cube also holds 50 LPs and can be stacked together to create a storage unit of as many boxes as is necessary, and in any design you like. The Sauder Clifford Place boasts a roomy cabinet with double doors on the front and a removable shelf. The top is also large enough to hold a turntable and other hi-fi equipment. Finally, the Household Essentials Ashwood is a versatile piece that can be used as a coffee table and has three large compartments set within its base.
