Editor's Notes

June 03, 2020:

Ideally, phone stands should be both functional and attractive, so we generally looked for options that that balanced those two features well. Of course, for some users one aspect or the other may be more important for their needs, so we also included a couple that lean more heavily towards one end of the spectrum or another, to make sure there would be one to suit every consumer.

Travelers generally need items that allow them to get the most out of their limited luggage space. If you are in this boat, the Lamicall Adjustable and Kanex iDevice Collapsible are smart choices. They both fold completely flat and have a lightweight build. Additionally, the Kanex iDevice Collapsible offers three angle settings, and the Lamicall model allows you to slightly adjust the height at which it holds your smartphone.

If you tend to run out of juice every day, you'll want to look at the Nulaxy WCT01 and Tylt Vu, since they are both wireless chargers, allowing you to keep your device topped up while still viewing media on it. Of these two, we like the Nulaxy WCT01 better, since it offers some angle adjustability, while the Tylt Vu keeps phones at a fixed orientation. That being said, the Vu does win out in the looks department.

When it comes to a high level of functionality, few can match the B-Land Gooseneck. While some may consider it unattractive, its ability to attach to a wide variety of objects and hold devices at essentially any orientation make it very useful. It can even be placed behind your neck while you lie down and hold your phone in front of your face for comfortable media viewing when in bed. The Lisen LE733 is also a bit more functional that most others, especially when using your device for following along with a recipe while cooking or similar situations where you may want your phone to be elevated quite a bit off a desk, table, or counter.

In the looks department, we are big fans of the elegant Samdi SD-012Wa, which is comes in a variety of wood options; the UGreen Aluminum Cell, which features an attractive curved aluminum build; and the extremely cute Plinrise Dinosaur, which would be ideal for children.
