Editor's Notes

August 12, 2020:

Removed the DeWalt Driver/Impact Combo because it is not a screwdriver set, it is a drill/driver and impact driver set. Removed the Bosch Drilling & Driving because it is not magnetic.

Added the Wera 932 and the Klein Tools 85148.

Virtually every standard screwdriver can be magnetized by running a magnet along its blade. Aside from magnetic tips, the Wera 932 have everything I look for in a screwdriver. They have hexagonal bolsters, which are excellent when you need some extra torque - you can produce vastly more torque with a wrench than with the screwdriver handle alone since you're extending your leverage. If you work with mechanical or electrical components, you'll sooner or later need to use your screwdriver as a chisel. The impact cap allows you to transfer the force of the hammer directly to the blade while sparing the handle. What makes so many people fans of Wera screwdrivers is the handles. Their distinctive shapes are designed to conform very well to your hand. They also use a combination of hard and soft materials - a hard core to secure the blade and soft sections to increase grip and torque transfer. Surprisingly, this combination of properties is rare in screwdrivers and the 932 has them without sacrificing the quality of the blade or the tips - whatever their marketing says about the laser-etched tips, anecdotally, cam-out does seem to occur less often than with lower-quality screwdrivers.
