Editor's Notes

November 20, 2019:

The Ninjago line of Lego toys is beloved for several reasons. Obviously, there's the television show aspect: the characters, monsters, and structures featured in these sets are already plenty familiar to your kids. The playsets combine the onscreen mythology of Ninjago with the construction-centric play-style Lego is famous for and it's proven to be a successful marriage. The line, after all, was introduced in 2011 and is still going strong today. In creating this list, we tried to provide a balance of vehicles, buildings, and characters so that everyone's favorite features of the show are well-represented. Oh, and one more thing: if you're concerned about the mess that an 800-piece set could potentially cause, consider picking up a Lego table, which will help your child keep all those tiny pieces contained in one designated area.

The Ronin R.E.X., Snake Showdown, and Dragon’s Forge have all been removed from the list, the first due to assembly issues, and the latter two due to their comparatively simple designs. New additions include the Legacy Cole’s Earth Driller, Green Ninja Mech Dragon, and Lloyd's Titan Mech, which feature between 500 and 900 pieces each and offer plenty of building entertainment.

Ninjago City It's the most elaborate — not to mention expensive — Ninjago toy out there, and it's easy to see why: there are nearly 5,000 pieces to put together to create a highly detailed town. It features a modular design that makes assembly and play a little bit less complicated, if you can imagine it. lego.com
