The 10 Best Key Shaped Multitools
This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in September of 2020. These compact multi-tools are key-shaped so as to blend in when added to your keychain and don't feel overly bulky or uncomfortable in your pocket. Although small in size, they are made from strong and durable materials, and are packed with the essentials needed to get you out of a fix. Also, they often don't include a blade, making them TSA compliant for carrying through airport security. Editor's Notes
October 14, 2020:
Keep a variety of useful tools at your fingertips with one of these key-shaped multi-tools. Affectionately dubbed as an EDC (everyday carry) item, they provide a miniature, lightweight alternative to carrying full-sized tools and gadgets, such as screwdrivers, hex wrenches, and bottle openers. By being attached to your key ring it means that they will always be handy when needed for things like a quick roadside bicycle repair, tightening a loose nut or screw, or cutting through a snagged fishing line.
The main priority with these multi-tools is their size and portability, and most in this ranking are designed to unobtrusively blend in with your keys, making them easy to carry in your pocket. Two exceptions are the CRKT Williams Defense Key, which is somewhat larger than a regular car key, since it is designed to be used in self-defense and therefore heeds to be big enough to grip securely. Similarly, the SwissTech ST53100 is slightly bulky, but was selected due to its good range of tools and cleaver design. The True Utility Fixr also provides plenty of tools and is designed to be a keyring rather than to hang from one. The Keytec Organizer Set is notable as it not only makes a nice gift but also includes a key holder, a keyring with bottle opener, and a key-shaped pocket knife that conveniently fits into the holder.
Of the multi-tools selected that are truly key-shaped, the Geekey pocket tool has the most functions and boasts over 16 individual tools. The SOG MacV has 13 tools which include screwdrivers, wrenches, and uniquely, a blade sharpener, and is finished in a black oxide coating that increases durability and prevents corrosion. The Sheskind Keychain EDC features some useful tools for carrying out bicycle repairs and has a textured surface, while the Poswlto Portable Screwdrivers, although compact, are well designed and have plastic grips that make them less fiddly to use than most other miniature screwdrivers of this style.
