Editor's Notes
January 05, 2021:
Interestingly, Jabra's most recent single-sided, on-ear headsets show surprisingly inconsistent quality control, so we've omitted any of those. If you need something in that kind of convenient form factor, consider a Plantronics headset instead.
Another interesting point that our research dug up is that even though the Evolve 65 has been followed up by the Evolve2, many users still prefer the original Evolve line, also including the noise-cancelling Evolve 75. For what it's worth, if you don't need noise cancelling on the listening end, the 65 is still the most cost-effective choice, which is why we've moved it up to the top spot.

If audio is crucial to your job performance, you'll generally want to look for a business-focused headset. If you only use it for work occasionally, you can get by with an entertainment-oriented pair of headphones. Given their experience with professional devices, it's no surprise that Jabra makes some headphones that are passable for work purposes. The Elite 85h (over-ear) and Move Style (on-ear) are the ones we're talking about. The over-ear cans' major drawback is that they're bulky and a bit heavy, leading to a little more warmth than some are comfortable with at work. The Move are much better ventilated, but their microphone doesn't cancel out background noise, so they won't work very well in loud environments. And if you're just looking for something to make everyday hands-free calling easier, the Talk 2 is both inexpensive and effective for periodic use.
But if you know you need a pro-style headset, there are plenty to choose from. It's awfully hard to beat the Evolve series; depending on your budget and connectivity needs, their on-ear Evolve series almost certainly comes in a model that should take care of you. Then there's the in-ear 65e, which has a neckband that many users find far more comfortable than a traditional headband. The Voice 550 and Evolve 30 II are both great single-sided options, while the Biz 1500 Duo is worth a look if you need to buy several without breaking the bank.
