Improvements in technology are giving these driveway alarms a longer range, more reliability, and making them less prone to false readings. We switched the 1byOne Patrol for the newer 1byOne Protect, which can now be set-up with up to four zones, each with its own warning tone from a choice of 36 melodies.
We also replaced the Govee Long Detect and the Dakota Alert DCMA-2500 with their more up to date counterparts, the Govee Motion which includes two infrared sensors with a 110-degree field of detection, and the Dakota Alert DCMA-4K-Plus, which features an improved base with a 4000-foot range and the ability to be connected to your alarm system, external sirens, or strobe lights.
Finally, we included the Htz Safe Solar, a compact unit that, similar to the Htz Safe 4040S, uses rechargeable lithium-ion batteries and a solar panel, giving versatility in location options. The latter has a quarter-mile range, whereas the former can receive signals from up to a half-mile away.

Users should take into consideration the best field-of-view for their particular needs before making a purchase. A longer sensor range isn't necessarily better, as it can increase the number of alerts to the point to where they're ignored. Adjustable sensitivity is also important, as any system will likely require some fine-tuning to perform at its best.
