Editor's Notes

December 23, 2020:

Asus makes a range of laptops from budget models for casual users, premium options well suited to professionals who need their devices for work, and highly-capable PCs tailored to the needs of gamers and graphic designers, all of which are represented here. During this update, we replaced all outdated models with their newest iterations. We like the ZenBook Flip S UX371 for its perfect balance of performance and portability, the ROG Scar XS99 for being a top-of-the line gaming model, and the ZenBook Pro Duo XS94T for its innovative design that makes it an ideal choice for creatives.

October 25, 2019:

Asus has a wide range of available laptops, starting with the highly budget-friendly Chromebook C202SA that is surprisingly well-made and durable for a Chrome OS device -- very often they're somewhat chintzy, but not this one. As far as Windows machines go, the VivoBook 15 is one of the most cost-effective options. If you're not necessarily looking for super-expensive, blazing-fast hardware, Asus offers a handful of mid-range options that still pack plenty of firepower. The ZenBook 15 and S15 are both excellent devices that take advantage of the entry-level ScreenPad and, especially in the case of the S15, they're pretty stylish as well.

Their ROG line contains a number of fantastic gaming PCs, including the ROG Strix, ROG Scar III, and Strix Hero III, though they are notably expensive. The Tuf FX505DV is a somewhat more affordable gaming laptop, and while it's a bit less costly it barely sacrifices any computing power. Most of these gamer-friendly models also pack impressive high-refresh displays at up to 240 hertz. And as far as actual processing power is concerned, as well as fancy new technology, the ZenBook Pro Duo UX581 is awfully tough to beat. It's one of the very rare OLED laptops currently sold, and it features the company's high-end ScreenPad, in this case a pressure-sensitive extension of the high-end 4K display panel.

8. VivoBook S13 DS51

9. ROG Strix G15 ES76

10. Chromebook C214MA
