The 8 Best Ash Buckets
This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in November of 2018. An ash bucket is an ideal way to help keep your hearth tidy and free of dangerous hot embers that can linger for hours after you think your fire is extinguished. The receptacle can also add a stylish accent to your fireplace, but remember to store it indoors only when empty. Once embers are placed inside, it should be taken outdoors and kept away from residential structures to cool. March 04, 2021:
We eliminated our choice from Gardener’s Supply Company. It was a tough call, not because the bucket itself was something special, but because we felt like it made for a nice installation when combined with its included stand. However, as we weren’t sure if or when this model would be available again, we decided to phase it out and look for some replacements, just to be safe.
We liked the way the Mind Reader MASH-BLK had two handles – which come in handy when it comes time for tipping – as well as a separate bracket to hold its companion shovel, and it earned a spot on our list based on those merits. However, the spot was fairly low down, as we thought that its lack of lid was a rather glaring oversight, though it might not be a dealbreaker for all users, especially when considering those that are maintaining outdoor fire pits.
Similarly, we added the EasyGoPoducts Mini even though we knew that its 1.35-gallon capacity was going to be prohbibitive for many, because we thought that for the right user – say somebody who lives alone, with a small living room, who only likes to burn the odd log from time to time – it might be just right. Unlike the MASH-BLK, this one does come with a lid, and one with a lip that should offer a decent seal.
Last, but certainly not least, we added the Tacklife PVC03A to the top of our list. As an automatic option, the case could certainly be made that this model doesn’t belong on this list, but we judged that – given its relatively subtle aesthetic and reasonable price – it was still worth including, to give our audience something to think about, if nothing else. If the PVC03A seems like an enticing option to you, then you might be interested in taking a gander at our properly designated rankings for ash vacuums.

Selected ash buckets with safety as a top priority. For this reason no ash buckets without lids were included with our selection, as keeping the any unnoticed hot embers contained is their primary purpose.

Ridgid DV0510 If the old sweep-and-scoop technique is a bit too labor intensive for you, give some thought to an ash vacuum like the DV0510. It employs a three-horsepower motor and HEPA filter to catch small particles, and it's backed by full lifetime warranty. homedepot.com
Shop-Vac CAV150 This model's five-gallon reservoir provides quite a decent holding capacity, and its six-foot power cord and seven-foot hose offer a fair amount of reach, but you'll still need an extension cord to reach some outdoor installations. It moves 80 cubic feet of air per minute and is backed by a two-year warranty. shopvac.com
