Editor's Notes
April 24, 2020:
As there are very few exclusive titles for the Xbox One console, choosing games for this list was relatively straightforward. However, ranking them wasn’t as easy. While Halo 5 was a clear winner and has been an Xbox system seller for over a decade, the other games on this list fought for their spots. Many of them are underrated, like Rare Replay for example. Anyone who’s purchased the Xbox One as their first console may be unfamiliar with the classic games that Rare has produced since the 80s, and it’s a great way to provide a ton of proven experiences in a single package.
Not much needs to be said about Halo 5. It’s one of the best games on the console in general, and has a production quality that rivals most feature films. It continues the story of super-soldier Master Chief in a fictional futuristic universe. Both the single-player story mode and multiplayer are filled to the brim with content, and make for an amazing experience overall. I chose Forza Motorsport 5 as a runner-up since it’s a solid entry in the Forza franchise that does almost everything right. It never hurts to add a racing game to your collection, and Motorsport 5 is one of the best out there. It has a refined physics engine and is a great way to push the boundaries of the Xbox One’s capabilities.
