This wiki has been updated 19 times since it was first published in December of 2017. The average size of an American home has grown by 1,000 feet since 1973. If you find yourself struggling to communicate with your family members, save your voice by installing one of these wireless intercoms. We've included classic audio-only systems and some that incorporate video or doorbell functions, along with a few perfect for workplaces, to meet a variety of needs and budgets. Editor's Notes

January 25, 2021:

The items included in our latest update fall into a few categories. There are indoor terminals, which are ideal for communicating between rooms either at home or in the workplace, and there are doorbell style intercoms, which have a weather-resistant outdoor transmitter and one or more receivers that are placed inside. There are also mobile intercoms, which can resemble walkie-talkies or cordless phones, and are represented here by the ultra-portable Chtoocy Rechargeable.

Of the indoor type, we have included the Nucleus Anywhere, Wuloo Room to Room, GLcon Radio, Hosmart System, Wuloo Communication, and the Hosmart Full Duplex. These offer hands-free operation, making them an ideal desktop solution for extended conversations between offices, for example.

Our doorbell-style choices include the Wuloo Doorbell System, Napok H6S, and the Qniglo Solar. These usually have the capacity to page between rooms if multiple handsets are available, and mean you'll never miss a visitor if you're outside in the garden or out of earshot of the doorbell, with the latter having solar functionality, so your transmitter will not lose its charge.

October 21, 2019:

The Aleko LM162 was no longer available, so we removed that item from the list. We also decided to get rid of the Tekey T-Box (very poor sound quality and buttons that tend to stick) and the Chamberlain NLS2 due to inadequate range, garbled audio, and a general lack of reliability.

We added a few standard two-way intercom systems as well as a couple new doorbell intercoms. We noted the simple installation process for the Napok H6s, which comes with all the tools and mounting hardware necessary to get it set up with your doorbell. The outdoor component is not waterproof, however, so users will want to find a way to protect it from the elements.

While many of the other intercom systems offer similar functions and capabilities — group talk, monitor mode, voice activation — the Wuloo Communication set itself apart with an extensive one-mile range and ten separate channels to choose from. It’s a nice general-purpose model for use at home or in a busy workplace.
