The 10 Best Wet Floor Signs
This wiki has been updated 16 times since it was first published in May of 2020. Wet floor signs provide warning about slippery surfaces and are helpful for reducing liability as a business owner. The most common models are made of rigid plastic and fold for easy storage and come in triangular, cone and collapsible cloth designs, though those made of fabric aren't as durable as others. Most signs are printed in both English and Spanish with a few also including French. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
July 14, 2020:
These signs come in rigid, foldable plastic models and soft, collapsible options. The shorter signs can often be overlooked, while the taller and sometimes more durable options may not store as compact as the folding models or the collapsible alternatives like the Novus AZ14PC.
Generally, the best options are the most visible ones. Sizes range from one to three feet tall and a variety of different lettering choices make some easier to read or stand out more than others. Most of the models featured on this list use a color that increases visibility, though some, like the Rubbermaid 2011, come in gray and black options which are not as noticeable. The Alpine Industries 499 is a good-looking wood and metal option, but it has somewhat subdued and less-noticeable colors. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has designated yellow as the color to mark physical hazards and indicate caution. More safety gear is featured on our list of best safety vests and best safety earmuffs.
Signs should be visible from all directions and the physical considerations of where the sign will be placed need to be taken into account. The lighter, fabric made signs are not well-suited for extended outdoor use like the Novus AZ14PC. Partial walls, stairwells and door openings are places where if a sign is placed, someone could trip over it. Some signs use images and icons to make them easier to understand and all of these are bilingual in English and Spanish, though some also include French like the Rubbermaid 2011.
