This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in November of 2018. There is no doubt that rechargeable batteries are a great invention. They are cost effective and eco-friendly, making them a win-win for you and the planet. These USB rechargeable models offer all the benefits of their traditional brethren, but can be topped up with a much wider range of power sources. We've made sure to include some that are perfect for energy-demanding devices. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
December 18, 2020:
Selections like Paleblue Smart Batteries and the Sorbo 4-Pack represent a more recently invented style of USB rechargeable battery, one which utilizes lithium-ion cells and charges directly from a USB power source without an intermediate charging bay. While this offers distinct advantages in terms of portability and ease of use, the technology has not yet become completely reliable and shouldn't be counted on for delicate or expensive devices. For this reason options that feature a more traditional nickel-metal hydride chemistry, such as the EBL Charger and Batteries Set and the EBL Rechargeable 8 Pack, are still worth considering. These choices are bulkier and slightly more complicated, but they are still a convenient option for many of the same situations, as they too can be charged via USB from sources like power banks and car chargers.

Choosing the best USB rechargeable batteries came down to balancing capacity, charging time, and durability. High capacity batteries are great, but if you have to wait an excessive amount of time for them to juice up, they will rarely be ready when you need them, especially if you put them into a device you use every day. We also did our best to include models in a range of sizes to suit every need.
