Travel door locks are a smart way to add a bit more security to your hotel room or vacation rental when on the road. They come in a variety of styles, and our recommendations encompass all of them. During this update we removed the First Watch Security 1846, as it had a number of issues that mostly related to it being a hassle to use in some manner. Other than that, we didn't eliminate any of our previous recommendations.
Despite not having to remove more than one of our previous selections, we were able to find a few more reliable options to add. One of these is the Ozozo Security Device, which we like for its extremely compact design. In fact, it is one of the smallest on the market, yet is still strong enough to provide a high level of additional security.
Another new addition is the American Door Jammer. Though this one is a bit large, many will appreciate it for the comfortable handle that makes it easy to pull tight and simple trigger release. It also has door protectors, which few others do, so you don't have to worry about it causing scuff marks that you may potentially be billed for if noticed by hotel employees or the owner of your vacation rental.
The final new recommendation is the Feenm Doorstop. Not only does it come as a pack of three for an affordable price, but each one features an integrated alarm that is loud enough to wake up deep sleepers and scare away intruders. You also have the option of turning off the alarm and using it as a normal doorstop.

While we would all like to think staying in a hotel or vacation rental is just as safe and secure as our own home, this is unfortunately not true. Unlike with your home, you and your family aren't the only ones with a means to access it. Unless you have one these travel door locks, you'll have to put your faith in perfect strangers not to enter when you aren't expecting them. We feel the Rishon Enterprises Addalock is probably the simplest and most secure option, though it is very slightly more expensive than most others. If you want something nearly as effective and easy to use, consider the Corporate Travel Safety Calslock and First Watch Security 1846, the latter of which can also be used on drawers. While most models are designed to prevent an intruder from entering when you are inside of the room, the Defender Security Lock-out is one of the few options that can actually be used when you are out exploring the town. It is worth nothing though, that it will only work with traditional round doorknobs, which means you won't be able to use it in some hotels. The Port A Lock Latch Protector is intended to be a more permanent solution, as you screw it into the door frame, making it one of the most secure options. You can also take it with you when traveling and simply slip it into place, but this does slightly reduce its effectiveness.
