The 6 Best Thermal Foggers
This wiki has been updated 21 times since it was first published in February of 2019. By using heat to vaporize a solution — insecticide, in most cases — these thermal foggers are useful for pest control in hard-to-reach outdoor areas, like shrubs, trees, and wide swaths of lawn. Since they operate at very high temperatures, they inherently pose a fire risk, so make sure to read the instructions carefully and always follow all safety precautions. Editor's Notes
March 22, 2019:
Intentionally included an even mix of commercial models and options more geared toward light-duty work. Of the former category, the Longray Pulse-Jet ranked ahead of the Longray TS36S and the Golden Eagle Dyna-Fog due to its superior value — it offers similar capabilities at a lower cost. While it’s probably not suitable for professional applications (some users express disappointment with the time it takes to heat up and its overall ease of use), the Black Flag 190107 is a low-cost electric model that should be satisfactory for casual homeowners and gardeners. Reports indicate that people appreciate the efficiency of the Bonide 420, which doesn’t require a ton of propane to be used effectively. Users should keep in mind that with certain models of thermal foggers, it’s advisable to let the tool “preheat” for a few minutes prior to fogging; this allows it to produce a robust fog and prevents it from potentially emitting a flame.
