Editor's Notes

May 21, 2020:

A quality stroller blanket is designed to hold up nicely to the elements and to cover your child well without dragging on the ground. Our list features a variety of designs and materials, so you’re sure to find one to match your stroller or nursery, and that’s suited for the climate where you live. Today we added the Hudson Baby Plush to the list, and this choice is made of durable polyester with a layer of wool-like Sherpa on the bottom. It’s available in more than two dozen fun and colorful patterns. We also added in the Oilo Quilt, which is another dual-sided pick, with Turkish jersey cotton on one side and smooth microfiber on the other. It too comes in a wide variety of patterns, with matching pillows and bed sheets sold separately.

The JJ Cole Bundleme Original retains its top spot on the list, as this warm and versatile choice is great for getting through cold winters and can be used to cover either a stroller or a car seat. It features polyester on the outside and faux shearling on the inside. It’s conveniently available in a size for infants and another for toddlers. For an organic cotton choice, check out the Burt's Bees Cable Knit, which features a soft, pesticide-free construction that won’t irritate your baby’s sensitive skin. This naturally hypoallergenic cover comes in your choice of either solid gray or pink. For a similar choice that’s available in a variety of patterns, look to the Living Textiles Chenille, which comes in prints like pink or gray chevron, hearts, or clouds.

To make room for the new additions, we removed the Ah Goo Baby Cotton, which is unavailable at this time and the Muzitao Universal, which is on the small side. For more choices that are comfortable and often fit nicely over a stroller or a car seat, check out our lists of fleece baby blankets and cashmere baby blankets.

For safety’s sake, experts advise against placing a blanket over a stroller to block out the Sun on hot days, as it can cause heat to become trapped inside. Better alternatives include a Sun hat, the stroller’s built-in canopy, or to hold a large umbrella over you and your child on walks.
