Editor's Notes
September 01, 2020:
Nothing ruins a good snorkeling trip like a low-quality mask that lets a lot of water in. Because of that, we looked for models with high-quality silicone skirts that are known to provide a reliable seal. One of the only exceptions to this might be the U.S. Divers Icon and Airent, which has a slightly stiff skirt that we definitely don't recommend for anybody with a mustache or heavy stubble. However, it was included for its extremely budget-friendly price that makes it well suited to someone who rarely snorkels, and, if you are clean shaven and it fits your face well, it will certainly get the job done. That being said, if you don't mind spending just a little more money, you can opt for the Cressi Panoramic Set, which significantly higher quality and also comes with a snorkel, so the only other thing you'll need to buy is fins.
Jumping to the opposite end of the spectrum, we have the Scubapro Spectra, Mares X-Vision Ultra, Tusa M-1001 Freedom HD, and Aqua Lung Atlantis, which are all top choices made with premium components that would be just as suitable for diving as snorkeling. The Scubapro Spectra, Mares X-Vision Ultra, and Tusa M-1001 Freedom HD are all low profile, which means they will have minimal drag and offer a wide field of view. They are also good for travel, since they don't take up much space in a backpack. The Aqua Lung Atlantis, on the other hand, is actually a high-volume option that has a large, single-panel lens that offers an uninterrupted view. It is built tough enough that it is used in the Air Force's Pararescue Indoc training.
Anyone who is looking to enhance the clarity and definition of the marine life will want to check out the Evo Hi Definition Set, while those looking to record their adventures with an action cam might be best served by the Octomask Frameless, which has an incorporated mount.

The Prodive and Omorc sets on our list come highly rated, are budget-friendly, and include reliable, ergonomic snorkels. The Prodive also features a convenient, waterproof bag that’ll hold everything nicely. The Cressi Panoramic costs a bit more but comes from an industry leader and is known for providing a picture-perfect field of view so you won’t miss a beat. Since wearing contacts or glasses can be a real hassle when you’re in the ocean, the Promate Optical is a highly practical solution that features corrective lenses. No matter which selection is right for you, many of the ones featured here are available in a multitude of color options to meet all preferences.
