The 10 Best Shoe Cabinets
This wiki has been updated 31 times since it was first published in January of 2016. Your boots are made for walking, not for dumping all around the house. These shoe cabinets and racks will help you tame the clutter in your home while, in some cases, also providing you with an attractive piece of furniture. However, if you have small children, it's a good idea to secure them to a wall, as some of these selections could cause serious injury if they toppled onto a little one. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

August 17, 2020:
In picking out our shoe cabinets we first looked for robust materials that would stand the test of time, but we also wanted to make sure our selections were attractive enough to be in a high-visibility area since many of these will sit at a home's entrance. We also worked to include ones with varying shelf layouts to meet many different organizational needs.
For those who don't know what they'll want to store from one week to the next, the Household Essentials 8120N is quite useful because its compartments can be rearranged in several ways. The Vasagle Adjustable Cubbie offers similar customizable appeal, with its two outermost shelves being removable and adjustable.
As far as longevity goes, the Merry Products 6-Tier caught our attention with thick particle board walls and tough MDF venner. We also appreciated the robust bamboo used in the making of the K Kelbel Classic Cabinet. The construction of the Coaster Home Furnishings didn't prove to be very durable so we thought it best to remove it.
Those seeking something that will make an attractive, as well as a functional, addition to a room, may like the Southern Enterprises Chelmsford, with its espresso top cushion and rattan storage baskets. The Prepac Tall Cubbie is also quite elegant. We removed the Songmics 7-Tier to make room for the upgraded Songmics 7-Tier Closet, which comes in a slightly sleeker design.

One of the biggest decisions users need to make is whether or not they want their shoes openly visible. If so, there are multiple options that utilize cubbies on this list, including the Prepac Cubbie Bench. This makes it easy to grab your sneakers when you're in a hurry, but it also leaves them exposed to dirt, bugs, and who knows what else.
Closed models like the Merry Products Northbeam protect your shoes from all that, but might make it harder to decide which pair to wear. Also, once one of the closed models fills up, you either have to buy a new one or live with the fact that the cabinet doors won't close anymore (we suppose you could also get rid of some shoes, but let's not get crazy).
Open storage spaces also allow more room for accessories like shoe trees. Of course, you'll need to keep everything organized for when company comes over, because you can't simply close the doors on a cubbie model to hide your mess.
