The 10 Best Running Gloves
This wiki has been updated 27 times since it was first published in January of 2018. When it’s cold outside, you'll need warmth and protection for your hands, especially if you're jogging in cooler weather, as low temperatures can have a magnified effect on your skin due to wind and moisture from perspiration. With a pair of these running gloves, you can insulate yourself from discomfort and look sporty in the process. Most even let you operate your smartphone, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
November 06, 2019:
We've updated our selections to incorporate a wider range of brands that runners have come to love and count on, including Nike, Smartwool, and Sugoi. These top choices include the Nike Men's Dri-Fit Tailwind, the Under Armour Threadborne, and the Smartwool Merino. Generally speaking, they are slightly pricier than some off-brand options, but they also tend to last longer with proper care. And even though some of these styles are gender specific, in most cases, these companies offer a version of each style for men and women. The exception is the Smartwool option, which is unisex to begin with. We ended up removing a few models at this time due to availability issues, but we selected a couple of inexpensive choices to round out our selection. These include the Achiou Knit, which are touchscreen capable but occasionally frustrating when you try to use them with your smartphone. But, if you've blown your budget on high-tech running shoes, they're a good selection to consider for lightweight warmth.
Special Honors
Hestra Wakayama Liners have their use, but for those who live through deeply frigid winters, an extra layer is often a necessity. These Hestra Wakayama are happy to oblige with their rugged cowhide exterior and G-loft polyester interior. As mittens, they don't offer as much dexterity as true gloves, but if you refuse to let subzero temperatures send you to the dreadmill, they could be worth it. hestragloves.com
Patagonia Wind Shield If you love all kinds of snowy sports, the Patagonia Wind Shield make a fine outdoor companion. The durable water repellent finish guards against blowing wind and water, while the odor controlling fabric stops sweat from causing unwanted smells. patagonia.com
