The 8 Best Rotary Cheese Graters
This wiki has been updated 31 times since it was first published in October of 2016. There's no doubt that shredded cheese improves just about any dish, but it can be a chore to prepare. These rotary graters make light work of that job and save you some time in the kitchen. Some can also be used for shredding and slicing vegetables, nuts, chocolate, and more. We've included both handheld and countertop options, at a range of price points, so there's one for all cooks. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
April 15, 2020:
Although it comes from a popular name in kitchen products, the Oxo Good Grips Seal and Store is simply too frustrating for most users, so we've elected to remove it at this time. For cooks who need versatility, the Westmark Schnitzel Mouli is a better choice to consider. It works equally well with cheese and veggies, so it definitely deserves the space it requires for storage. We've kept the popular Zyliss Classic, as well; it's strong enough to tackle hard foods, and when you're finished, cleanup is a breeze. This is in contrast to the KitchenAid Black, which is useful but can offer quite a task when it's time to wash the dishes. Note that all of the aforementioned models have many plastic parts. If you'd rather a metal option, there's the Boska Holland Monaco Collection. It isn't quite as user-friendly as some, but if you prefer to keep plastic out of your kitchen, it will do the trick.
Finally, we opted to add one electric model, the Presto Professional SaladShooter. An alternative to standard food processors, it can slice and shred in a flash. And because you can hold it over the bowl you're prepping food in, there's no extra container or dish to clean. If you only need a tiny bit of cheese served at the table, though, it might be a bit much.
