The 10 Best Pull Out Trash Cans
This wiki has been updated 20 times since it was first published in April of 2020. Pull out garbage cans, also known as sliding trash cans or track trash cans, attach to metal runners and are easily concealed in a kitchen cabinet. This not only saves room on your kitchen floor, but also stores your trash out of sight and reach of children and pets, while keeping odors at a distance. Here we have ranked the best based on their durability, strength, aesthetics and value. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

April 16, 2020:
If kitchen floor space is limited, or if you simply don’t want your trash can to ruin your home’s aesthetics, then a pull out garbage can is an effective solution. Due to their compact size, they are often used in conjunction with a larger receptacle such as a wheeled trash can, so that excess waste can be kept in a garage or outdoors, in between refuse collections.
Those that are short on cabinet space might consider a top-mounted option such as the Rev-A-Shelf 4WCTM or the Century Components Top Mount, as these maximize the vertical space available with no undercarriage or tray upon which to stand. Alternatively, you can opt for a bottom-mounted model such as the Simplehuman Dual Compartment, Knape & Vogt Undermount, or the Rev-A-Shelf 4WCSC. These, while quite different in their construction, all attach to the cabinet floor and maximize horizontal space as there are no fittings on either side.
Some models, including the Rev-A-Shelf 4WCBM or the Knape & Vogt Soft Close, have dampeners on the runners to prevent slamming, and will gently self-close the last couple of inches, even when operating on a full load. You can also opt for a single-bin model such as the Simplehuman Under Counter, which will fit shallower units, or a double-bin model such as the Double Waste Container System, which will accommodate recyclable materials as well as regular items of household waste.
