Editor's Notes

October 21, 2019:

Pregnancy is a memorable time, but it can be an overwhelming one too, which is where a good journal comes in. Not only will one help you slow down and savor the different aspects of your journey, but it can serve as a handy time capsule to look back on when you want to relive the experience or remember certain information for consequent pregnancies or to give advice to a friend. They also partner well with baby books to serve as keepsakes for your child to grow up with and cherish down the line.

We wanted this list to feature selections for myriad personality types, schedules, and tastes. If you're the scrapbooking kind, you'll appreciate My Pregnancy With Sofie La Girafe and Bump For Joy, while 40ish Weeks and Expecting You are ideal if you love to write. Then there are volumes like the What to Expect Diary and Pregnancy Journal: A Day-To-Day Guide, which provide helpful guidance in addition to chronicling your experience. There are also tomes that cater to how much time you have to devote to them. For instance, The Belly Book and When We Became Three are very detailed and easy to fill in, while Bump To Birthday, Bump For Joy, and a few others take a bit more time.

As far as updates went, we let go of Waiting in Wonder, which we felt was less practical than our new addition 40ish Weeks. And although it's still a compelling choice, we removed the My Pregnancy Journal since it's a bit dated and doesn't do much to stand out from other selections. Then, we updated the Pearhead Pastel to the longer, more comprehensive Pearhead Pregnancy Book.
