February 09, 2021:
We made a lot of changes during this update as there are a number of new models available. At this time, we have decided that we would no longer consider any option that doesn't have a rechargeable battery as portable, since most will want to use these on the go where they may not have access to power. Also, if it is small and needs to be plugged in, that is better categorized as a personal blender, which we already have a dedicated list for. This new requirement alone resulted in us eliminating half of our previously recommended models.
Now, you can find two distinct types of portable blenders here, those intended solely for mixing up protein powders and other soft or powdery foods, such as the Promixx iX-R Vortex and Voltrx VortexBoost, and those that can crush ice, frozen fruit, and other solid foods, which encompasses every other one of our recommendations. We also favored ones that are designed for you to comfortably drink directly from the blending container, such as the Outad Pinlo, Greecho JC-04, and PopBabies P21, among others.

While it's great to have a full-size blender for crushing ice in the kitchen, you won't always have the time to prep all your ingredients and clean the machine before heading off to work or the gym. Furthermore, you can't exactly take that Vitamix blender with you to the office, either. Well, maybe you could, but would you really want to? If not, then a great on-the-go alternative for making that protein shake or smoothie is to use one of these portable blenders instead. In addition to being lightweight and designed for travel, they're made with shock and impact-resistant containers, powerful motors, and they can do many of the same things that their full-size counterparts do, but on a smaller scale.
The Keyton Single Serve, for example, offers convenient one-touch operation and holds as much as 21 ounces, so it's perfect for mixing a thick and velvety smoothie on your way to the office. Both the bottle and blade are dishwasher safe. The P&M Home Mini is very practical, thanks to its use of electromagnetic induction technology for fast wireless charging and its 40-second automatic shutoff function. I also added the Hamilton Beach Personal Creations for its effective pulse feature, ensuring it pulverizes ingredients evenly for a rich, velvety texture. I like that the Oster My Blend has a both a carrying hook and a resettable fuse so that the motor can be easily restarted in the event of an overheat. I also included the Promixx Vortex, which is geared toward athletes, thanks to its dedicated storage pod for protein supplements and the X-blade technology that helps to preserve micronutrient integrity. The Cozibot Travel is great for quick blending action, as it's powerful enough to crush both ice and seeds in just 30 seconds. It also has a convenient battery level indicator. The Douhe Cordless is perfect for outdoor use, thanks to an ability to withstand extreme temperatures as well as to charge mobile devices on the go. I also added the Brio USB for its 15-ounce capacity and two lithium-ion batteries, which give it enough power to produce up to 20 cups before it needs recharging. Finally, the Voltrx VortexBoost is equipped with a nifty light-up base and is ideal for mixing pre-workout beverages and even waffle batters.
