Editor's Notes

June 04, 2020:

While, ideally, plush dolls should pose no danger to the humans who love them, there have been recalls of defective models in the past. Instances like these are definitely outliers, but that being said, it’s always a good idea to research any of the things you purchase so you can remain as informed as possible about where they come from, as well as who makes them and how. Keeping on top of recalls isn’t the easiest thing ever, but there are resources like the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission and others that can potentially help you along.

As silly as it might sound, just like beanie babies, trading cards, and other collectibles, Pokemon Plushies also constitute a decent investment if you have the storage space and take good care of them. Sure, they could lose all their popularity and tank like a bad stock, but what investment isn’t a gamble? While we aren’t advocating gamble, we can confirm that there is a market for dated plushies, especially if they come from an enduring franchise like Pokemon.

Moving forward, interactive models like the TOMY My Friend Pikachu and Flopping Magikarp were shown some preference given their animated properties, but not exclusively due to such features. Pikachu and Magikarp are both very popular, and these models are well-made and have received a lot of positive feedback from the many people who have purchased them. Really, it would be great if a licensee would come along and release some more battery operated designs.

Elsewhere, while there are a lot of popular and staunch Eevee models out there, we went with the Eevee Collectable since it is offered in every evolution and comes in a nice display case. Although many people purchase Pokemon plushies for many different reasons, this is one that collectors will want to consider.

Special Honors

Pokemon Center If you're looking for something particular that you're not finding here, or you're just an adventurous individual, we strongly encourage you to stroll down the virtual avenue and poke your head into this online shop. Their website has a vast stock and easy to maneuver interface that allows you to refine your search by plushie size and type. In addition to the hundreds of stuffed 'mon they offer, including more than 40 legendary options and over 30 iterations of Ditto, they also sell figurines, pins, cards, clothes, accessories, and more. pokemoncenter.com

Stuffed Animals for Emergencies Just like the Pokemon franchise, this nonprofit is over 20 years old and dedicated to putting smiles on kids' faces. As you may or may not know, there's more and more businesses out there that follow a one-for-one model where they donate an item to a good cause for every one of those items sold. Allow us to be bold and suggest that you consider buying two plushies, sending one off to a child who's going through a rough time and could use a cuddly companion. Further, if you'll permit us to be downright crazy, you could always just buy a stuffed animal for this charity without even getting something for yourself. Of course, they also accept clean and lightly used offerings, so if you've got any neglected extras lying around collecting dust, gifting those would be just as great. stuffedanimalsforemergencies.org
