Editor's Notes

October 17, 2020:

For this update, since we lacked a model that could handle large sausage packs of sealant, we added the Belaroko 600. Sausage packs - as opposed to the traditional caulk cartridges found in most other models - are beneficial in several ways. Their foil bodies result in much less waste than the hard plastic cartridges, and they are available in larger quantities as well. This makes them valuable for large-scale jobs that go through a large amount of sealant.

If you don't already have one, you'll need to purchase an air compressor to power your pneumatic caulking gun. If you don't see yourself needing a large, heavy-duty option, these smaller pancake compressors might be a better choice. They're quieter than larger models, and take up a lot less space.

Manually applying a lot of caulk is not only time consuming, but it is also very tiring for the hand and wrist. In addition to being less fatiguing, these pneumatic-powered models make placing a consistent bead easier. If you are a commercial contractor and need something that can stand up to heavy-volume use, and the inevitable bumps and bruises tools are subjected to in a work truck, the Cox 63001 Bexley, Cox 63002 Berkshire, and PMT RCNE-R are smart choices. The Cox 63001 Bexley also has a very well-balanced design that puts other models to shame, and the Cox 63002 Berkshir is available in an extended model that makes applying caulk in difficult-to-reach places more convenient. The Chicago Pneumatic CP9885, Astro Pneumatic Tool AST405, and Campbell Hausfeld PL1558 are all very affordable models that are perfect for home use, but they all have a similar trigger design which tends to pinch the index finger when as you release pressure, so you might not want to use one of these if you find yourself applying caulk on a regular basis. Since the Caulk Master PG100 doesn't cover the entire cartridge, it is more compact than other options and a good choice for anyone who doesn't have a lot of extra space in their toolbox.
