The 10 Best Pen Lights
This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in February of 2019. Whether you need it for work or just want to be prepared at all times, a pen light is a useful tool to have, and their small size makes them easy to keep in your pocket, bag, desk, or car. While our list does include several options for doctors, nurses, and EMTs, keep in mind that some of them are designed for looking at the ears, throat, and nose, but are too bright to shine directly into eyes. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
February 25, 2019:
If you are a medical professional or first responder looking for a pen light to perform pupillary exams, the Lumintop Medical, Risemart Nursing, and Primacare Diagnostic are all suitable options, but the CAVN Reusable have LED bulbs that are too bright to shine directly into eyes. The Streamlight Stylus Pro and Bolder by Anker are durable and water-resistant, making them great for outdoor use, or for mechanics, electricians, and other tradesmen to inspect their work. Due to its adjustable beam and long range, the Infray High Lumen is versatile, but you have to cycle through all three settings to find the one you're looking for, meaning it's easy to accidentally activate the strobe function.
