The 10 Best Oracle Decks
This wiki has been updated 22 times since it was first published in July of 2020. Unlike tarot, oracle decks are somewhat arbitrary, varying in card count and theme from set to set. Like astrology and other forms of fortune telling, they encourage introspection and the cultivation of self awareness regardless of whatever mystical claims accompany them. No matter what sort of soul searching you're doing, we hope this curated selection of decks helps you in your explorations. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
August 17, 2020:
Although people often think of tarot decks when it comes to cards and divination, there is a vast assortment of oracle decks to explore, and more coming out every year. While tarot is more like astrology with its established system, oracle decks operate in a range of fun and interesting ways informed by little more than the ingenuity of their creators. Many of the most popular decks focus on positive themes in an attempt to distance their brand of augury from those with dark reputations like ouija boards.
Since oracle decks differ significantly, they can be difficult to master, and users almost always need a guidebook on hand to perform accurate readings. One of the few exceptions to this is The Power of Surrender, which places a good deal of explanatory text on the cards themselves. Elsewhere, remember that sets like Crystal Spirits and Mystical Shaman have large books that don’t fit in the same convenient box as their cards, meaning you’ll have to tote around both in order to use them correctly.
