While our list did include a lot of great options that many users would find more than acceptable, one thing that we noticed during this round of updates is that we’d failed to include any insulated options with these rankings, for the benefit of electricians and other tradespeople who’re likely to be exposed to live power during their work day.
Since we’d already eliminated the Craftsman Evolv and GreatNeck ND72 due to availability issues – the former being a compact multitool solution, the latter a budget-friendly set of dedicated tools – we had enough space to incorporate two, new, seven-piece insulated sets to our list: the Greenlee 0253-03NH-INS and Wiha 32293.
The offering from Greenlee is a great set that can easily last a responsible professional for the duration of their career, but the German-made alternative from Wiha is also a well-reputed option, and although it doesn’t come with a storage case, it’s much more affordable than the Greenlee alternative. It should also be noted that our Greenlee pick is based on SAE sizes and our Wiha pick uses nominal metric measurements. However, if metric’s a problem for you, Wiha has a similar imperial option available that only costs slightly more.
Lastly, we went ahead and phased out the Klein Tools 646M – which consists of a pair of long-shaft drivers – believing that our users would be better served by the nine-piece Klein Tools 33524, which comes with a zippered nylon case and a lifetime warranty, which helped earn it a top spot on our list.

Nut drivers make it easier to quickly screw and unscrew nuts than using a wrench that constantly needs to be removed and re-positioned. They can also be used in tight places where wrenches would be too unwieldy. Whatever your reason for wanting one, we identified a good selection of sets, so there will definitely be an option to fit your needs. It you are a professional contractor, or anybody else that plans on using these tools on a daily basis for high-torque applications, we recommend you consider the Klein Tools 631, Ares 70028, Irwin Tools Performance Series 7-Piece, and DeWalt DWPVTDRV. All of these can withstand a lot of force and won't let you down on the job. The Klein Tools 631 and Irwin Tools Performance Series 7-Piece include self-contained tools, whereas the other two will require you to connect the bits to a drill or manual driver handle. If you just want something affordable for periodic use, the GreatNeck ND72 or Tekton 2938 will do nicely. The GearWrench 8916 and DeWalt DWMT73808 are good options for somebody who doesn't want a bunch of separate fixed-head tools, but also doesn't currently have anything to attach bits to, since they come with the driver and a bunch of interchangeable heads.
