The 10 Best Night Ski Goggles

This wiki has been updated 34 times since it was first published in December of 2016. Although it can be exhilarating to ski or snowboard down the slopes at night, there are added risks, making it more dangerous than during the day. Most notably, that includes the lack of light, which can affect your vision and perception of depth. By wearing a pair of these night ski goggles, which use lightly-tinted lenses, you can be assured of the best low-light visibility possible. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

October 20, 2020:

For night skiing you will often need a different pair of goggles than you use in the daytime. The VLT, or visible light transmission, is the most important factor to consider. Clear lenses usually have a very high VLT of up to 99 percent, or yellow-tinted lenses, with a VLT ranging from 60-80 percent, may be preferred as they help with seeing contrast in poor light conditions.

We removed several items in our most recent edit, and replaced them with more durable options, and included some newer models with improved nighttime features. The Minalo UV Outdoor were replaced with the Cooloo Ski. These are still a budget pair, suitable for beginners, but are more hardwearing and offer three different choices of tinted lenses, each suitable for low-light use. The Bolle Freeze were switched with the Copozz MX 2 in 1, which incorporate a removable, mirrored outer lens and a permanent yellow lens, allowing the outer one to be removed in seconds when light conditions deteriorate. Finally, the Traverse Varia was replaced with the versatile Odoland Interchangeable. Each pair comes with two lenses, one of which has a yellow tint and boasts a VLT of 80 percent. In the remainder of the list, the OutdoorMaster OTG, the Oakley Flight Deck, and the Bolle Mojo come with interchangeable lenses that include clear and yellow options, making them suitable for a variety of weather and lighting conditions. The Anon M3 are among the most sophisticated and effective goggles on the market, with a polarized lens that increases depth perception and full perimeter channel venting to ensure maximum airflow. However, their hefty price tag may discourage all but seasoned professionals. The Giro Boreal OTG and the high-quality Oakley O-Frame MX both have clear lenses, making them suitable for a range of nighttime sports activities. The latter feature carbon fiber print frames and impact-resistant lexan lenses, making them a durable choice for extreme sports.
