The 10 Best Motorcycle Wheel Chocks

video play icon

This wiki has been updated 28 times since it was first published in October of 2018. Sure, you could rustle up something from your garage to hold your motorcycle upright and secure, but why take the chance of a fall when you can have one of these dedicated wheel chocks? They'll keep your ride safe for maintenance, trailer hauling, or storage, averting both damage to the machine and injury to anyone who happens to be near it. We've even found models that look pretty good, as well. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

December 03, 2020:

A wheel chock acts as a supporting anchor for your motorcycle during transport or maintenance, keeping it perfectly upright, limiting travel, and allowing easier access to certain parts of the vehicle when conducting repairs. They can be bolted to the floor of a trailer or garage, or fixed to a lift table for additional safety by preventing personal injury, or damage to the bike from slips and falls. Available in free-standing or fixed designs, the selection in this ranking has been chosen to accommodate a range of machines, from dirt bikes to cruisers, with many being adjustable to fit almost any size wheel.

In the free-standing category, we have included the Baxley Sport, with its sturdy tubular steel construction and swiveling cradle for easy access; the Extreme Max Standard, which can accommodate wide cruiser tires; the Condor Pit-Stop/Trailer-Stop, which is highly adjustable and well suited to single-person use, and the robust MaxxHaul Heavy Duty, which, true to its name, can carry machines of up to 1,800 pounds in weight. It should be noted that all these models, aside from the Baxley Sport, have the capacity to be bolted down for added security and transit purposes.

In the fixed category, we have included the Yitamotor Removable, which is basic but effective, and has quick-release hardware; the Lock 'N Load Deluxe, which comes with ratchet straps and rear mounting plates; the easily-removable Condor Trailer-Only, which is designed for use in transit; the Pit Posse PP2900, with its rocking wheel lock for ease of use, and the MaxxHaul 70075, which is simple yet sturdy, and represents excellent value for money. For a truly compact option, we added the Marson Flip Up, which folds flush with the trailer floor

Both of these categories carry their own benefits, but for trailer or lift table use, we recommend a fixed model, due to the likelihood of the bike moving around during transit and the increased risk of injury during lifting. On the other hand, a floor-standing model has the benefit of being portable for use in the garage and for easy storage, as well as having the option to be bolted to a surface for a more secure attachment. Please note: whichever type of chock you decide to purchase, be sure to conduct some research as to whether it fits your bike's tire width and wheel diameter before you part with any money.

December 06, 2018:

Chose favorite models from MaxxHaul and Condor, as they are admired for both their overall durability and their usefulness in a range of situations. Also added the Pingel 6.5-Inch, popular among Harley Davidson riders, and the Extreme Max Standard and the Marson Flip Up for those who need smaller, space-saving options.
