The 6 Best Microwave Drawers
This wiki has been updated 27 times since it was first published in December of 2018. Despite all the innovations that have modernized our kitchens, one area in which we've really lagged behind is the placement of our (let's be honest) most-used appliances. One of these drawer microwave ovens can allow your kids to make popcorn after school without getting on a step ladder, and will look much better than the bulky unit currently taking up space on the counter. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
December 07, 2020:
Most people are content with countertop microwaves, and even those with built-in units are fine with the standard swinging door, which unfortunately means these drawer models have a small customer base and are at best a niche item. The result is a limited selection, and the customer's choice will likely be based more on the dimensions of their cabinets than anything else, so consult your contractor or landlord as the space requirements will likely dictate which model you get.
Many of the most popular models in this category come from Sharp, which produces the widest variety of drawer microwaves. However, it should be noted that Sharp has been the subject of a class action dispute regarding these drawer microwaves and whether or not the company provided accurate information to consumers. Before choosing any of their units, make sure you do your research. The choice between Sharp's top two models comes down to color and weight, with the Sharp SMD2470AS being lighter than the Sharp SMD2470AH. Two other solid choices are the Sharp KB-6524PS and Dacor Renaissance Series, which offer roughly the same capacity and power as most others in this category.
The Frigidaire Professional is the easy top pick, as it's bigger, more powerful, and more reliable than just about every other unit out there, and boasts a lot of advanced features. The only downside to it is that it's not a traditional drawer, but if you want the best model out there, the choice is a simple one.

This is not a very deep category, and if you're looking for one, you likely have a specific place you're thinking of putting it, which will limit your size options. The only major variables after that are whether you want a drop down door or a drawer that opens by pushing a button, as well as the choice of getting a combination convection oven. Both are available, and there are clear winners of each type.
