This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in August of 2019. Travel can be stressful, since you have to constantly keep track of your bags and all the important stuff they contain. But with a sturdy lock for your luggage, you can relax a bit more and enjoy the journey, knowing that you’ve made it that much more difficult for the bad guys to get at your things. Each of these models is TSA approved, and some make your suitcases easier to spot, too. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
August 05, 2019:
We’ve selected a range of combination and keyed locks for all types of luggage, so you can lock up your stuff no matter where you’re going. For most, we like the Sure Lock Easy Read or the Lewis N. Clark Mini Padlock. The former lets you program in your own combo, while the latter comes with keys, but they’re both simple, effective options. For those who’d like something a little different, we like the TravelMore Flexible or the Sea to Summit Cardkey. The TravelMore choice doesn’t work well with all zipper pulls, however, so you’ll want to compare the specifications to those of your bag's pulls. There's also the Pick Proof Seals, but if TSA removes these, they can't be replaced, as with a lock. Of course, this also lets you know for sure that your bag has been opened, a feature some users appreciate. Finally, we have omitted the popular Tarriss TSA Luggage Lock over concerns that it can be opened too easily with a paperclip.
