Editor's Notes

October 29, 2019:

A classic Lego set can bring hours of fun to a child or an entire family, and these Creator sets bring even more enjoyment (and more bang for your buck) since many can be taken apart and compiled into one or two other fun designs.

Coming on board today is the Roller Coaster, which is part of the Creator Expert sub-theme that’s geared toward older builders aged 16 and up. Featuring more than 4,100 pieces, this set comes with two trains with four cars each that plunge, twist, and turn on the track that boasts plenty of dramatic drops. You can latch the riders’ lap bars before activating the chain lift and then watching the gravity-driven cars hurtle through the thrilling ride. In 2019, it won the Toy of the Year Award, a recognition presented annually to top toys and games. (For added functionality, you can choose to upgrade this set with Lego Power functions that incorporate a motor, a sensor, and a programmable hub. This option also includes realistic sound effects.)

Leaving the list to make room for the Roller Coaster is the Detective’s Office, which features an intriguing, old-fashioned design, but one which some users find frustrating due to the small size of the rooms inside.

Always keep an eye on young children to ensure a safe playtime, and be sure to follow a manufacturer's stated age guidelines.
