The 9 Best Ladder Balls
This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in July of 2019. The name changes depending on where you're from, but it doesn't matter if you call it hillbilly horseshoes, flingy pongy, or just plain ladderball, there's no debate that this game is a blast. We've found plenty of options that will jazz up your next picnic in the park or backyard barbecue, whether the players are old or young. Just be sure to supervise children for safe bola use. Editor's Notes
July 22, 2019:
Perfect for when you need a break from your cornhole set, ladder ball (or golf) is a portable, simple game that can be quite addictive. Sets are commonly made from wood, metal, and plastic; although the plastic models aren't as robust as the others, we have decided to include those made from all three materials, since PVC options do offer lightweight construction that makes them extremely portable. These include the AmazonBasics Outdoor and the GoSports Premium, which give you hassle-free setup and aren't too pricey, to boot. For those who would prefer the long-lasting durability of heavier materials, we like the EastPoint Sports Go! Gater Premium and the Maranda Enterprises Metal. Both include everything you need to play, and neither has terribly hard bolas, so even younger children can get in on the fun — with proper adult supervision, of course. Finally, we decided to include one mini version, the Towpath Indoor Junior. It's great for dorm rooms and apartments, or perhaps even for travel.
Special Honors
Uber Games Custom The Uber Games Custom only comes with one ladder, but this has a wide, supportive base that can handle hard tosses. It's also customizable, which means you can use it for tournaments and professional events where image is key. megachess.com
Ladder Golf Single Instead of flimsy plastic construction, the Ladder Golf Single features solid hardwood, brass hardware, and rungs that can take some abuse. But just because it's rugged, that doesn't make it tough to assemble, so feel free to carry it along wherever you go. laddergolf.com
