This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Though you may have heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, it turns out that was a myth. Intermittent Fasting, or IF, has become increasingly popular as a tool for weight loss and overall good health, and these books not only show you how to cook healthy choices, but provide tips for sticking with a diet in order to maximize results and feel great. When users buy our independently chosen editorial selections, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

August 27, 2020:

While IF has been gaining traction in the last few years, it has recently become even more popular in the last year or so, meaning there were tons of informative new titles to recommend for our latest update. That resulted in us saying goodbye to quite a few, swapping bare-bones volumes like The Ultimate Fasting Diet with more comprehensive ones like The Obesity Code Cookbook.

We know there are many who want the best of a keto cookbook combined with fasting principles, and since the Ketogenic Diet 2019 became unavailable and Intermittent Fasting And Keto went out of print, we decided to bring on Keto Intermittent Fasting for those who still want guidance on putting the two together. We also added The Fast Days Cookbook, which focuses solely on the 5:2 diet, one of the most popular fasting regimens that has participants eating normally for 5 days and restricted calories on the other two.

There are a lot of people just breaking into this lifestyle who are interested in myriad aspects of intermittent fasting and need a few meal ideas to get started, while others just want a brief explainer with tons of recipes. We were sure to include a range of texts to deliver on these fronts, and included books that incorporate paleo principles like What When Wine and Mediterranean diet-friendly meals like The Fast 800 Recipe Book.

If what you're looking for is strictly a cookbook, then you may want to make your choice just by the number of recipes offered, in which case our #1 pick is the clear winner. However, many options also outline the principles of IF and why you should or should not take part in this type of program. If you want a more detailed analysis, or would like to combine IF with a workout plan and want tips for sticking with it, consider one of the other choices, which may be lighter on recipes but are heavier on science.
