This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Inflatable docks are a great way to increase the deck area of your boat when spending a day out on the water with friends. Depending on the model you choose, it may be firm enough to walk across, jump off, or serve as a yoga platform. Some are even rigid enough to place chairs on. We've found options in a range of sizes, so you can enjoy the day with as many people as you'd like. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

November 30, 2020:

Most inflatable platforms are simply rigid surfaces for standing, sitting, and playing, but there are also a few options out there with extra features geared toward relaxation. Those more interested in a party float than a sundeck should check out the Bestway Tropical Breeze III, which includes bench seats, detachable recliners, and numerous cupholders. Users with sensitive skin will likely appreciate its removable sunshade. We've also replaced the Blue Water Toys All Purpose with the newer and more versatile Blue Water Toys 3 In 1, which includes a lowered central area with a flexible and porous base, to let the waves cool you as you lounge in comfort. It also has a slip-resistant pad and numerous handles for stability, and the sturdy cover for the mesh section can be used as its own smaller float.

We removed the Bris Water Lounge based on the high proportion of customers who reported that the surface was overly slick, and that the frame tended to leak. We also dropped the World of Watersports 6 x 6, which was a decent item but basically identical to the World of Watersports Walkway, except slightly smaller and less expensive. We felt that the Intex 56841EP Giant represented a better budget option, as it's larger and quite a bit more affordable.

Looking for furniture to set up on your inflatable dock? We've got lists of beach chairs, mats, and loungers that should work nicely. We've also reviewed many other kinds of waterfront accessories, from grill mounts for boats to floating speakers.

January 15, 2019:

Inflatable platforms serve a variety of purposes. Some people just want something to use as a floating lounge area, while others may want them to function as a stand-up paddleboard dock or as a jumping off point. We did our best to include at least one item that is perfectly suited to each of these needs, along with other models that are well-suited to multiple uses.
