The 10 Best Incline Bench Presses
This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in October of 2018. These incline bench presses should slide perfectly under your power rack or smith machine, and are ideal for those who are seeking a more comprehensive pectoral muscle workout from the comfort of your own home. Most of our selections have a solid build, are easy to stow away or move, as needed, and come with a leg hold-down brace, while a few boast especially high weight capacities. When users buy our independently chosen editorial picks, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
August 22, 2020:
As an aficionado of the bench press, I’ve taken it upon myself to replace a couple of the older benches in this list with newer models that would perfectly complement your smith machine or power rack. The power cage is basically the same thing as a squat rack, but usually the half-frame models are referred to as squat racks or squat stands, whereas the full-frame models are called power cages. I favor the latter, as you don't need a spotter.
I’ve also updated the Fitness Reality 1000 Super Max to the Fitness Reality 2000 Super Max. On the surface, it looks like there isn’t too much of a difference between the two Super Max models – other than cosmetic appearance - and the 2000 comes with a slightly higher capacity of 850 lbs - or 50 lbs more than the 1000, which is virtually inconsequential. However, the 2000 actually incorporates a novel design which eliminates the gap between the backrest and seat, regardless of the individual positions of either. Fitness Reality say that they’ve taken out a patent on this design.
Obviously, in terms of overall quality and durability, models can vary quite a lot, and we always aim to include the most robust and durable models we can find, which is why I’ve removed the Health Gear CFB500 during this update. However, there isn’t too much variability among incline bench presses, and most benches are roughly similar in size and function.
Thus, during this update, I had to turn my attention to the subtler elements which differentiate benches, and as a result, I’ve made sure that all of our models – with the exception of the Steelbody Deluxe - have some form of leg hold-down brace. Obviously, the brace is replaced by a leg developer that can take a weight stack, in the case of models like the Marcy Fitness Olympic and Fitness Reality X-Class.
I’ve also ensured that all the models in this list have adjustable seats, and the only exception to this is the Marcy Fitness Olympic. The Powerline Body-Solid has an adjustable seat, but that’s slidable and not angling.

Evaluated home options based on the amount of positions as well as convenience. Some models are capable of being folded up and put away, while others are meant for serious weightlifters who have barbell sets. Those looking for a beginner option will find several choices that go great with simple dumbbells.
