The 7 Best Heated Mugs
This wiki has been updated 24 times since it was first published in October of 2018. Given how impractical it would be to commute to the office with a large coffee maker in tow, consider one of these heated travel mugs as an alternative to help you keep that morning beverage at the perfect temperature for the entire journey. Some of our options can be controlled right from a mobile device, while others are capable of receiving power directly from an automobile's lighter socket. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.
Editor's Notes
December 08, 2020:
Unfortunately, some of our previous choices have now become difficult to find, including the Wagan Electronic, so we've opted to remove them. On a positive note, however, some models have been upgraded, and we've updated our picks to reflect these changes so that there are still plenty of options for replacing a run-of-the-mill travel mug.
The newer Ember Travel Mug 2 takes the place of its previous iteration. This smart mug can be controlled via your smartphone with a timer, temperature settings, and more; in fact, it can integrate with Apple Health and track your caffeine intake, in case you're trying to cut back. If you don't need this smart functionality, consider instead the Muggo 12-Ounce. The styling is similar, but the Muggo model doesn't pair with your phone and so must be controlled right on the mug. This makes it a good alternative for those users who might not be especially tech savvy.
We also added the updated Cauldryn Fyre Mobile 2.0. It's currently a bit tricky to find, which is certainly a drawback. And much like the readily available Cauldryn Coffee, it's on the big and bulky side. But these can be used with a Cauldryn blender attachment that's offered for purchase separately, making them perhaps the most versatile out of all the available options.
Finally, we kept the Burnout Lexo, even though it doesn't have an electric heat source. Instead, it absorbs the heat from a fresh cup of joe so you can drink it immediately, then keeps the beverage hot with the help of this stored energy. This means there are no cords or batteries to mess with, and it's easy to wash, but it probably won't keep your beverage hot for as long as the others you'll find here.
October 25, 2018:
Included Cauldryn Coffee Bottle, Cauldryn Fyre, and Ember TM15 due to their programmable features both via mobile device and on-board displays. Despite lack of an independent power/charging source, also included Lexo Burnout because of its overall construction and aerospace-inspired design for transferring and storing beverage heat. Added Gosoit Warmer for its pressure relief function and superior thermal insulation.
