The 10 Best Hand Sanitizer Dispensers

video play icon

This wiki has been updated 23 times since it was first published in January of 2019. Although there have been some debates over the long-term negative effects of hand sanitizers, many places, such as hospitals, require it, making these dispensers, well, indispensable. Here you'll find both automatic and manually-operated devices suitable for use in both homes and commercial premises. Just be certain to keep the contents away from heat sources, as they are flammable. When users buy our independently chosen editorial recommendations, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

July 28, 2020:

Because hand sanitizer is useful virtually everywhere, we've kept dispensers that work for many locations, including homes and businesses, and for people who are on the go. But when it comes to quality and efficiency, it's still hard to beat the popular Purell NXT, a manual model, and the Purell TFX, a touch-free, automatic choice. If, however, you want something with a more handsome, sleek look, turn to the Germ-X OmniPod. It's incredibly easy to refill and has a locking mechanism to prevent tampering. For something even simpler, we selected the Wave 1-Gallon. It's a giant bottle with a pump, so it's definitely noticeable, although not terribly attractive.

As for smaller choices, we removed the Purell Pal over availability concerns, adding the cute Zario Travel instead. Offered in packs of three, these keychains are small and portable, arriving with a bottle but no actual sanitizer. You can add your own; a very small funnel might make the process easier. Finally, we kept the Magnet & Steel HandiPOD. It doesn't hold a lot of hand sanitizer or dog poop bags, but there's more than enough to get you through a walk around the block with Fido.

January 21, 2019:

Investigated top choices from Purell, adding the NXT and TFX as strong options; both are noticeable but not obtrusive and hold a fair amount of gel. Also selected the Clorox Touchless and the Germ-X OmniPod, with the latter being slightly more stylish but with a smaller capacity. The Alpine Industries Double was also added as a useful choice for businesses, although some users might have trouble determining which side is soap and which sanitizer.
