This wiki has been updated 29 times since it was first published in January of 2017. The GoPro is easily the most popular action cam on the market today, as well as one of the most accessorized. If you wish to keep your camera and its various components safe during your many adventures, you're going to want to get your hands on one of the carrying cases on our list. We've ranked them here by their capacity, organizational capabilities, protectiveness, and style. When users buy our independently chosen editorial choices, we may earn commissions to help fund the Wiki.

Editor's Notes

February 14, 2021:

Though GoPros are designed to be rugged, you'll still want to keep them protected when in transit, especially if you are transporting them when not inside of their hard plastic cases. Also, many of their accessories, like spare batteries for example, can't withstand the same type of abuse, so you'll need to safeguard those. And, considering the amount of accessories most of us carry around with our cameras, it makes sense to keep them organized. These convenient cases are the way to do all of these things.

During this update, we, unfortunately, had to remove the Neewer Waterproof NW-200 due to availability issues. In its place, we added a different hard-shell model, the Smatree GA150, which is surprisingly affordable considering that it is extremely tough, completely air tight, and will even float if accidentally dropped in water. Another new addition is the CamKix Large, which takes the place of the CamKix Travel. We like the former better for its extra organizational flap for holding thumbscrews, camera case back doors, and other items that often don't have dedicated places in other cases.

We felt the Neewer Shockproof EVA was too similar to the Amazon Basics Large to keep both, so decided to remove the former. Instead, we added the Thule Legend, which is small case ideal for those who want something they can easily toss inside a messenger or sling bag when on the go. The HSU HGP5101B is another compact choice that also fits this need perfectly.

August 16, 2019:

A handful of the options from our previous list were removed this time around due to availability issues. Likely by no coincidence, those that remain are generally superior to the models that left, even if our old list's number one has been knocked back to number six by a few new entries. Among those are a pair of cases by Pelican, a company generally considered to be the cream of the crop among case manufacturers for everything from cameramen to scientists. Their products are incredibly durable and customizable, but they are often on the expensive side. As such, it was a camera backpack by LowePro that took our number one spot, as it features an insert in its bottom compartment that adds extra padding to whatever you choose to carry, and a top compartment capable of fitting a variety of mounts for users who like to stick their GoPros in odd places.
